Just as you thought you got a hang of it, here comes another update from Niantic with Pokemon CP values considerably changed. Many went up, some went down.
Victreebel which performed really well against Vaporeon and other water-type pokemon, went down in CP. So did Dewgong which was great against Dragonite and other fire-type pokemon. Yet Snorlax, Gyarados and Dragonite which were already very strong and difficult to battle against, went even further up in CP. Kingler went up in CP so much that it is now one of the strongest pokemon for many trainers.
However, here’s the thing. HP values stay unchanged, which may mean that the pokemon with lowered CP will become even stronger when powered up again, due to a better HP:CP ratio. With the double stardust event starting later this week, trainers will have an opportunity to test this hypothesis.
Evolution calculators are based on the old formulas, but it seems that the changes to the CP were triggered by amended base stats, not the formulas, so fingers crossed calculators are still accurate.
|CP went up||CP went down||Same CP|
